Today's children are tomorrow's generation. Children saved today are a generation saved for tomorrow. Everyone who lives in India or has been in India knows the plight of countless children on the streets, in shops and shared shelters. Even an economically, spiritually and culturally strong country like India faces an enormous challenge in bringing up these children of the next generation.

Sometimes, great minds end up in the hands of traders and trouble makers for money and power. Those in normal physical and mental health never grow up to realize their full potential due to the lack of a loving environment that encourages them to learn, aspire, achieve and share.

The situation is much worse for children without parents, for those whose parents are in prison or for those whose parents are terminally ill. Given the opportunity, many of these children would desire to live differently; however, rarely are they given such an opportunity. Many children who are allowed the privilege of staying in orphanages feel deprived when they compare their lives to others'.

Shalom Academy is dedicated to providing a stable, safe and nurturing 'Home for Children', enabling them to grow personally and professionally as caring human beings as well as productive and responsible citizens.

Most of these children have guardians or foster parents. Some are in institutions that do not have the minimum resources to provide for even their basic needs. Some have been deserted by their guardians; many have lost their lives.

We wish to meet the needs of at least a few such children who need our services most - children who do not have their parents to take care of them, and whose guardians are economically deprived. For this purpose, Shalom Academy was formed as a non-governmental, non-profit organization, and registered as a society. It is our heartfelt desire that every child be granted the opportunity to live their best life.
