Our vision is to help children grow to their best potential. Our Core Values : People tend to regard parentless children and children from orphanages as unfortunate or with condescension. While such children do need sympathetic action and support, the attitude or lack of resources in many orphanages makes a negative impact on children's development. Shalom Academy is committed to the following core values and to enhancing the positive attributes of a child's upbringing by using the family as a model of caring for these children:
- Instilling personal values and direction such as responsibility, discipline, work ethic, family values and honesty/trust/ integrity.
- Ensuring a sense of self-worth, belonging, self-esteem, confidence, encouragement and love by being part of a family
- Providing a high standard of basic amenities such as food, housing, medical care, recreation and sports .
- Giving children access to high-quality education, after-school curricula and fulfilling careers
- Developing sporting, public/social and creative art skills

Generating friendships and close sibling ties through the family model, giving children a sense of stability

The above focus ensures that the following are abolished:

A feeling of separation from immediate family and siblings, which induces a sense of deficiency in love, support and visits from siblings, and homesickness

A lack of food, clothing, shelter, attention, guidance, education, skill development due to minimal resources

A lack of freedom and independence

Excessive and abusive punishment by unconcerned guardians

Unnecessary work demands, too few hours of leisure and harsh work environments. |
